Fam, Elevate to Alleviate
FAM, lets talk about elevating to alleviate.
OKKKUR!
I know we have all experienced one of those days where, we just wake up feeling heavy. You know, not feeling ourselves. Still holding on to some shit from the other day, from work, school, or family. Whatever the source, you are whacked out of sync with yourself.
But
Did you know that emotions are strong as hell? I know this to be true and so do you because boy, they come and take the fuck over. Okay! They pierce through us like the game we use to play "Fruit Ninja". We can feel our emotions REALLY good and normally when we are out of sync, you know it!
You may experience times where you feel heavy, or an overwhelming sadness may take over you. Anger and or frustration rushes through your veins. Your body temperature may feel like it’s getting hotter. All of a sudden you can’t focus on anything but that emotion.
Whatever negative energy that has overcome you, Fam, know that you can elevate higher at any given moment. I know you have had one of these days right? You either woke up like this, or this feeling was caused by something that threw you out of sync.
Whenever one of these mother-funky, energy draining emotions try to latch itself on you again; do me a favor please. You tell that mother-funky to stop in its tracks and turn the fuck around because after reading this blog, you will know how to relieve yourself from an all-day emotional, energy draining rabbit hole.
Teach them emotions all about 2020 Social Distancing, ya heard!
First thing to do is what we do naturally, but this time try to be aware of it more and control it fam!
BREATHE
This is A GAME CHANGER, you hear me? It is my number one go to for any negative situation. Tune that shit out, and get to focusing and controlling your breath. Immediately start doing long inhales like this: Inhale for 1…………..2……………..3…………..4……..5 and Exhale the same for 1………2…….3…….4……..5.
For me, I may repeat this step a good 6 times before my heart rate begins to slow down. This may be different for you. Learn your body. Learn how many breaths it takes you to calm down in any situation. This kind of stuff- just focusing on breathe, is highly underestimated and overlooked and let me tell you fam; this shit works wonders.
Know that these valuable suggestions go hand in hand. Sometimes I may do them all to help elevate me. Then other times, I may only do one or two of these mood essentials- due to the environment I may be in when it happens.
You may be at work when you need to utilize this, and that is okay. Find your flow! Which is another reason why I say it’s good to know your body and to pay attention to things like, how long it takes for you to elevate.
(You will get better at this timeframe the more you utilize the resources you have around you that assist with your elevation process)
Trust the process fam and get them speakers or headphones ready for my next essential mood changer:
LISTENING TO MUSIC
I know for me fam, music speaks to my EVERYTHING. This is my second go-to. It is another immediate calm down. I start off with music that speaks to my soul. Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, H.E.R, Snoh Aalegra, Jhene Aiko to name a few.
This next unconscious step that happens to me is funny, and I am mentioning it so you can be aware if it happens to you as well. As my mood elevates and my energy and vibration is now higher (I am feeling way better) please believe that playlist definitely changes. Megan the Stallion, Lil Jon, Rhianna, Tupac, Biggie, to Travis Scott. This little unconscious step that I tend to do is confirmation to me that I have successfully changed my mood/energy/vibration to something higher and greater. YAY.
Even at work I am listening to music, elevating if I need to.
Here is a random thought of gratefulness:
Let me tell you fam, words can not express how grateful I am for the headphones invention. We can all thank Nathaniel Baldwin for his essential invention because, HONEY, (said with emphasis and a southern drawl ) Nathaniel’s invention has saved my life a lot of times.
Now if you do not have the luxury at work to wear headphones, no worries. I GOT YOU! Take that break or lunch fam and get yourself together.
At home with others? No problem! Go into another room, patio, backyard. Hell, the bathroom! Lock them doors and get to elevating. There is another essential mood changer that I also like to utilize and that is:
GOING ON A WALK
Yep, that simple. Fresh air and some vitamin D will do the body and mental some good. I can step outside and instantly the heat from the Sun, no matter the season, and all that good oxygen that I begin to breathe in - fills my lungs up perfectly and it is so refreshing to my soul. FAM! All I got to say is, just try it for yourself and you will see.
Once you get to this step, if needed, you can then use the other two essentials which is breathing and listening to music on your walk!
It will feel like an escape. An escape from that Motha-funky emotion that make us feel trapped in a small space, and it instantly replaces it with something refreshing to the soul.
I can feel the cool breeze now. Do me a favor and look up to the horizons.

I can recall vividly, my spiritual practitioners and leaders when I was younger always telling me this. Do not look straight ahead or down as you walk all the time chile. Look up. Raise that head high and look at what source created.
The horizon.
You. Those trees in front of you and in the back. The birds you hear chirping. How amazing are all these things that are surrounding us every day? How often do we take the time to stop and take a good look at what is surrounding us all? It is in moments like these where we can really FEEL the appreciation and gratefulness in LIFE.
Remember Fam that:
Negative, uncomfortable energy travels and surrounds itself around you and whomever the emotion is attached to. Staying in the environment does not allow it to dissipate. You must remove yourself from the environment in order to breathe, think clear, resolve.
You are in control of your emotions; Your emotions do not control You.
